Gaharu Oil
|
The best
grades of gaharu wood chips are usually reserved for
incense. Remaining lots are finely chopped up or grinded to
sawdust, then macerated for about 10 days before they are
cooked to extract its oil. The cooking process takes about
3-4 days of continuous cooking using special stoves at a
constantly-controlled temperature. Through a water
distillation and cooling system, the gaharu oil is extracted
and then filtered to separate it from the distilled water
derived.
Our gaharu oil is sold at prices ranging
from RM 400 to RM 2000 per tola (10 ml) depending on its grade. Also
available are smaller bottles of 3 ml and 6 ml. A litre of high-grade
gaharu oil can fetch a price of up to RM 200.000. Some of the world’s
most exclusive perfumes use gaharu oil as its base. Yves Saint
Laurent and Amouage are two examples. In the Middle- East, gaharu is
widely used in daily life and in
most Arabian perfumes |

Gaharu
distilled water
|
Gaharu distilled water is a
by-product of the oil production process. After 4 days of
continuous cooking, gaharu oil evaporates together with this
water , is channeled through a retort and condensed in a
water-cooled receiving container. After the gaharu oil is
collected, this water is used as a health drink and has been
proven useful in the relief of rheumatism, numbness, diarrhea,
stress and tiredness. Taken only in small quantities mixed with
warm water and a little honey, gaharu distilled water helps to
rejuvenate the body.

Fertilizers
|
We use and
sell a varied range of fertilizers formulated specially for our
gaharu plants. At every stage, beginning from the planting,
seedling shock and subsequently the growing process, different
types are applied to the karas trees to suit their nutrient
requirements. Our fertilizers are priced at between RM 2 and RM
4 per kg. Available are zeolite, humus and organic fertilizers. |
 |
Pesticides
|
Within the first year of planting , karas
seedlings are very susceptible to attacks by caterpillars,
grasshoppers and ground beetles. These pests can adversely
affect the plant growth. or even kill the seedlings. Pesticides
have to be applied periodically to prevent such attacks. We are
liaising with a counterpart who has conducted extensive research
and development on ways to prevent damage to the seedlings by
pests and at the same time, enhancing leaf and gaharu wood
quality, using only one type of pesticide |
Gaharu seedlings/saplings

RM 120 per plant.
For delivery,
the minimum order is 300 trees. Delivery charges will be billed
to the purchaser.

Inoculants and inducers.
|
Natural formation of gaharu within the
karas tree is a long process that takes tens of years. This
too, does not guarantee the availability of the resinous
heartwood if the tree is not sufficiently damaged by the forces
of nature or wild animals to the extent that it will respond to
its injury and emit its resin. To induce and expedite gaharu
formation over a shorter period, the trees are inoculated
with enzymes. These inoculants are varied and are priced at
between RM 250 to RM 750 per litre. Among the latest is the use
of nanotechnology which has been proven to produce high quality gaharu. RAL Plantations has carried out inoculation of
its trees using this technology and is awaiting results. |
Kayu Tas (Tas wood)
|
Well-known to locals as a plant
that has qualities to ward off wild animals, venomous
creatures and poisonous insects. Kayu Tas ia also used
by natives and many indigenous people of the Malay Peninsula and
many parts of South-East Asia to keep away evil spirits that are
usually related to their local cultures and beliefs. The wood
from this tree is believed to contain a certain scent, not
traceable to the human nose, which is much disliked by the
entities mentioned above. It grows wild in the tropical
rainforests. |
